The curtain came down on the 2018/19 season with a trip to Boundary Park. Keith Curle included three players to have come through the club’s Academy, Shaun McWilliams, Jay Williams and Scott Pollock, in his starting eleven.

The Cobblers started brightly on a cold early May afternoon in Lancashire but it was the home side who took the lead, Johan Branger-Engone with a shot from the edge of the area that went in via the post.

Mohamed Sylla headed just wide from a free-kick before a superb strike from Sam Hoskins restored parity, an unstoppable volley from 25-yards finding the top corner.

Hoskins' goal lifted the Cobblers and Aaron Pierre headed home a delivery from Hoskins from a well-worked short corner to turn the scoreline around.

Keith Curle’s side were now in the ascendancy and it was 3-1 to the Cobblers before half-time, Andy Williams alert to apply the finishing touch from close range after Daniel Powell’s initial effort had come back off the post.

Less than five minutes into the second half the Cobblers increase their lead further, Andy Williams with his second of the afternoon, a clinical finish from the striker after some good work by Sam Foley.

Mohamed Maouche flashed a shot wide as the hosts enjoyed a spell of pressure and they pulled a goal back when Callum Lang followed up after a combination of David Cornell and the cross bar kept out a free-kick from Branger-Engone.

Sensing they were now back in the game Oldham continued to push forward and a rising strike from Branger-Engone went just over the bar while Cornell saved from Christopher Missilou.

Junior Morias came off the bench to restore the Cobblers three goal advantage with a clinical finish on the counter-attack, fellow substitute Joe Powell and Shaun McWilliams both heavily involved in the build-up.

Andy Williams then had a chance to complete his hat-trick only to be denied by the legs of the Latics goalkeeper but it was still an emphatic victory for the Coblers on the final day of the Sky Bet League 2 season.
