Cobblers boss Keith Curle is looking for improvements in all areas as he looks ahead to the final game of the season and ahead to next season.
“There have been glimpses of what as a group we are able to do but there is lots of improvement needed,” he said.
“What I inherited was a group of players lacking in confidence that needed direction, focus and to get points on the board.
“We needed to make sure we kept ourselves in this division which I think we’ve done comfortably, we flirted with the play-offs and for me probably one of the biggest disappointments was the defeat at Cheltenham and more the manner of that defeat.
“We went into that game on a really good run but that defeat and the defeat against Port Vale really hurt us.
“If we win more games next season we will be operating at the right end of the division but to do that we know we need to score more goals, concede less and keep more clean sheets.”
