Striker Harry Smith, who joined the Cobblers for an undisclosed fee from Macclesfield Town just over a week ago, says he had no hesitation in making the move to Northampton Town.
“As soon as I knew about the interest from Northampton I was more than happy to come here and I’m really looking forward to the next few years,” he said.
“I think it’s a club on the up and I’m excited to work with Keith Curle. I was impressed when I met him and I think as long as I work hard and give it everything it will be an exciting time.
“I don’t want to be in a position where the team is fighting at the bottom or in mid-table, I want to push on and the club one hundred per cent wants to push on for promotion and I’m looking forward to hopefully being a part of something successful.
“It was a tough season on and off the pitch for me at Macclesfield but we dealt with it as players and we got ourselves over the line, something that I think was quite special considering the circumstances.
“I don’t want to be in that position again though and hopefully next season we’ll be fighting at the top end of the table.”
