Northampton Town Ladies beaten by a single goal

10 March 2019

Last Sunday saw the Cobblers take part in a top of the table clash as the Northampton Town Ladies hosted Oadby & Wigston for the second time this season.

The two sides met in the first game following the Christmas break where Oadby scored a crucial last minute goal to level the game at 2-2.

Weather conditions were not ideal with gale force winds making it impossible for either side to maintain possession for long periods of time.

The first half saw the Cobblers create chances despite the wind being against them. Abbie Reboul, Leah Stacey and Emma Dunmore all came close but their efforts were denied and half time approached with scores level.

The second half, much like the first, was difficult for both teams.

Alex Bartlett’s free kick effort was heading for the top corner had it not been for the Oadby keeper tipping the ball on to the cross bar.

With only minutes remaining, Oadby found themselves in front, taking all three points putting them top of the league for the first time this season.

A difficult result for the Cobblers Ladies and with six games remaining its all to play for. There was terrific support once again from the Cobblers fans and as always thank you to the high five girls!
