NORTHAMPTON TOWN LADIES RETURN TO WINNING WAYS

Cobblers Ladies win at Corby

25 March 2019

The Northampton Town Ladies travelled to Corby Town on Sunday for the second time this season. The two sides last met in September for the first league game of the season, when the Cobblers were 2-0 victors.

The game was played on Corby Town's main pitch and in warm sunshine the conditions were perfect for football.

Some good play from the start saw early chances created and it only took eight minutes for the Cobblers to take the lead. A through ball from Alex Bartley caused confusion between the Corby keeper and defender allowing Leah Stacey to run in and put Northampton Town 1-0 ahead.

The goal certainly encouraged the visitors and chances started to come thick and fast.

15 minutes in and Nicole Andrejczuk pounced on to a loose ball, putting Emma Dunmore through on goal and her finish beat the keeper at the near post.

Only minutes later a quick throw in to Alex Bartlett saw her beat two players and play Emma Dunmore in for her second goal of the game to put Northampton Town 3-0 ahead before half time.

The second half saw a slow start for the Cobblers but the final goal of the afternoon, on 70 minutes, was something special.

A Northampton Town corner was only cleared as far as Emma Billenness on the edge of the box. Her first time header back into a dangerous area was met by Sara Wait who then headed the ball on to Emma Dunmore to volley home for her hat trick.
