New signing midfielder Ryan Watson is looking forward to his third spell at the club following two previous loan stints under former boss Chris Wilder.
Watson played 5 games in a loan spell in the 2014/15 campaign with a further 15 appearances the following season and says he is pleased to be returning.
“I had a couple of loan spells here a few years ago but this time is permanent and I’m really looking forward to it,” he said.
“I met the manager last week, I know the club is ambitious, everyone wants promotion and that’s the main reason why I’m here.
“Last time I was here the club got promoted that season, it’s been a bit up and down since then but hopefully we can kick on again now. I actually nearly signed in January but that didn’t quite happen for a number of reasons.
“I’d like to think I’ve matured on and off the pitch since I was last here but I am still the same sort of player, a box to box midfielder who wants to bring energy to the team.
“I’m not sure exactly where I am going to be playing but I’d like to get forward and into the box a bit more. I can play across the midfield and I had a little spell last season playing at wing-back.
“I feel I need to chip in with a few more goals but I think the main thing I can bring to the team is that energy.”
