Reece Hall-Johnson is the latest summer arrival at the PTS Academy Stadium to admit Keith Curle’s ambition played a major part in his move to Northampton Town.
“I had a meeting with the Gaffer a couple of weeks ago and everything he said ticked all the boxes,” Hall-Johnson said.
“He’s got goals in what he wants to achieve this year, that matched what I want to do and the move was one hundred per cent appealing to me.
“I learnt a lot about League 2 last season. I wasn’t quite sure what to expect at Grimsby last season but what I’ve learned is that anybody can beat anybody in this league and if we can have a good start and perform well hopefully we can be where we need to be come the end of the season.
“The Gaffer is ambitious and I think the club has shown that it matches that ambition with the number of signings."
For those Cobblers supporters who might not know a lot about Hall-Johnson, this is what the man himself had to say.
“I think I’m good one v one defending and I’d say I’m more of a right back than a right midfielder but I do like to get forward.
“The wing-back role would be perfect for me, I’ve got good energy and I like to get up and down but competition for places will be very tough so we will have to wait and see. I am happy to perform whatever role is needed to help the team.”
