COLIN WEST ENCOURAGED BY EARLY SIGNS

The Cobblers assistant manager looks back on Saturday's pre-season game at Sileby Rangers

7 July 2019

Cobblers assistant boss Colin West was pleased with the early signs as he reflected on Saturday’s opening pre-season friendly at Sileby Rangers.

"The lads played really well, it was a good work out,” he said speaking before the squad departed for Spain on Sunday and their pre-season training camp.

“It’s a lovely set up at Sileby and we appreciate them hosting us.

“We wanted to give all the lads we could a run out and it was important for them to get a feel for the ball and for the different positions they might have to play during the season.

“The atmosphere in the group has been really good in the last week, the players came back in good condition and they have worked really hard.

“We’ve got a good close group and the players have responded to each other really well.

"A few of the boys have very minor niggles and were a bit sore after a tough week so we sat them out on Saturday and likewise Charlie Goode who is a few days behind the others having only just signed on Wednesday. He has undergone the assessments the rest of the boys had the week before. None of them are anything serious, but we won't take any chances at this stage but they will travel to Spain and take part in the work out there."
