Cobblers boss Keith Curle was pleased to get more game time for defenders Charlie Goode and Reece Hall-Johnson in Tuesday night’s pre-season fixture at Brackley Town.
“It was a competitive game again and that’s what you want in pre-season," he said.
"We got more minutes into the likes of Charlie Goode and Reece Hall-Johnson and that was important.
“I felt in the first half we probably did more than enough to win two games if we put our chances away.
“For the first half an hour it was a decent contest but then we came a bit disjointed.
“At the start of the game we were getting the ball in good areas and causing Brackley some real problems but then we stopped doing the basics and we spoke about that."
