KEITH CURLE - 'WE ARE TICKING A LOT OF BOXES'

The Cobblers boss was pleased with Friday's game against Coventry City

Cobblers boss Keith Curle was pleased as he reflected on Friday’s pre-season draw with Coventry City at the Pinatar Arena.

“We kept our shape very well, throughout pre-season we will be working on different aspects of our game, against Coventry we were focussing on our defensive shape and it’s important we are able to keep our shape and nullify the opposition,” he said.

“The sweltering heat made it tough for both teams but that is good for the fitness of the players and I was pleased that when the subs did come on they quickly picked up tactically what we were trying to do.

“Working at an intensity in those temperatures will make you fitter but at the same time recovery is really important as well.

“We are still working on combinations and getting to know the strengths and weaknesses of individuals and then combining that into a team ethic.

“We’ve got a good squad of players and it’s about turning that into a team mentality. We’ve ticked a lot of boxes in terms of individiuals and as a group.”
