Cobblers boss Keith Curle said there was plenty to be pleased about as he reflected on Friday night’s pre-season friendly victory over MK Dons.
“We’ve had some good challenges in pre-season and it’s pleasing to finish off with a win,” he said.
“It was an excellent work out for the lads and we are very thankful to Paul Tisdale and MK Dons for coming over for the final game of our preparations for the new season.
“It was good to get some more minutes into the likes of Joe Martin, Reece Hall-Johnson and Charlie Goode who have missed some of pre-season and also for Alan McCormack to get his first appearance and some minutes under his belt.
“MK Dons are a good side and deservedly got promoted last season so Friday night was a really good test for us.
“We’ve done a lot of physical work in pre-season and on the morning before Brackley we did a lot of work with the players because we wanted them to play that game under fatigue to see how they would react. We wanted to see them exposed and we’ve learnt a lot this week.”
