Cobblers boss Keith Curle felt the lack of a second goal when on top cost his side the chance to record three points as he reflected on the 1-1 draw with Morecambe.
“In the first half we showed glimpses of what we are looking for but we could have moved the ball a bit quicker and we still need a bit more quality in wide areas,” he said.
“The tempo was good and we were difficult to play against in the first half but we just lacked a bit of quality and we needed that second goal. Sam Hoskins is getting in good positions and I’m sure when he gets that first goal he will go on a run.
“We had a young side out there today with two new players and the injury to Shay Facey didn’t help us.
“We are still looking to identify players we feel can fit into the structure we want and I think we need a little bit more experience in the squad in key areas.
“From day one we were looking to improve and build a foundation for us to move forward and that hasn’t changed.
“We are building, we are giving the youth players experience as we go along, we have handed out a fair few debuts to Academy players in the last few months and it’s good to see the vibrancy and the willingness of those young players to learn.”
