Dean Bowditch, John-Joe O’Toole and Sam Foley are all close to making a playing return and boss Keith Curle is hoping to have at least two of those players available for selection against Colchester United on Saturday.

“I feel we’ve got a competitive squad and the injured players are close to coming back,” he said.

“Dean Bowditch, John-Joe O’Toole and Sam Foley are all close and two of those three could even be ready for the weekend."

Curle has also spoken about trying to add to the squad before Thursday’s 11pm transfer deadline.

“We’ve missed out on an experienced player who has gone up to Scotland,” he said.

“Transfers can be like a domino effect and as players move other options become available.

“Unfortunately we are not on the front of that domino roll and we just have to make sure that we are ready to react when certain players we’ve identified become available. I do have the opportunity to bring players in and I am being well supported in that but I won't pay over the odds. That would not be right for the football club and if that means we go with what we've got then I am more than happy to do that.”
