KEITH CURLE - 'WE'LL NEED TO FIGHT TOOTH AND NAIL AT CAMBRIDGE'

The Cobblers boss looks ahead to Saturday's game

18 January 2019

Cobblers boss Keith Curle is expecting to have to fight tooth and nail to take anything away from Saturday’s trip to Cambridge United.

“Cambridge are fighting for their lives, it won’t be an easy afternoon and anything we get on Saturday we will need to fight hard for,” he said.

“I’m not sure how they will set up and there are a lot of possible permutations but ultimately I think we have got a flexible squad that has a good understanding of different systems.

“Our players have had to adapt quickly to different formations and that shows the learning curve we’ve been on and are still on.

“Last Saturday against Carlisle was the continuation of us laying down the foundations and since I’ve been here I’ve not played the same team in consecutive games which shows that I am still learning about the group.

“I’m still pushing boundaries with certain players and I’m still seeing if they have the right credentials that I need to take them to the next level.

“Before the Carlisle game my message to the players was that everybody was talking about the players who have gone but I back the players in the changing room and I challenged them to go out and put on a performance that gets everybody talking about them.

“The players accepted and rose to the challenge and I think they all enjoyed the outcome.”
