DELIGHTED CURLE PRAISES TEAMWORK AS COBBLERS END CARLISLE'S WINNING RUN

Cobblers boss Keith Curle praised the hard work, discipline and desire of his side as he reflected on Saturday’s 3-0 home win over Carlisle United, Northampton Town ending the six match winning run of the Cumbrians with substitute Junior Morias adding to Jack Bridge’s earlier brace.

“I knew today was going to be very important,” he said.

“Throughout the week I left no doubt in the players mind as to how important this game was to me personally and the response I got from them was superb.

“Hard work, discipline, understanding, desire and application were there in abundance and there was a real unity.

“Carlisle had one or two chances but as the game grew I thought we caused them a lot of problems.

“It’s important to focus on the players we have here and there is still a lot of work to be done within the group. The players have had a difficult time over the last few months with relegation and the change in manager and that does have an effect.

“Everything we do is about progression and continued growth. We are nowhere near finished in terms of recruitment and if all the boxes are ticked you might still see more movement going the other way.”
