KEITH CURLE PRAISES EFFORTS OF YOUNG PLAYERS AND INJURY HIT SQUAD

Cobblers boss Keith Curle praised the efforts of his young players as he reflected on the 3-2 defeat at Cambridge, goals from Aaron Pierre and Junior Morias not enough as the home side twice came from behind before David Amoo’s decisive strike in injury time.

“The result is disappointing but it’s a learning curve for everybody, he said.

“We were a young team at the start and we were even younger by the end.

“I felt we got a bit outmuscled at times and we needed a bit more robustness which comes with experience.

“There are still areas we need to work on, our game management still needs to improve as does our defensive understanding.

“We have good players unavailable for selection through injury but I thought the players who came in acquitted themselves well. The result is disappointing but this can be the spur for them.

“Every game from now until the end of the season is important but we are ready for the challenge.”
