On Saturday February 23rd. the Northampton Town Walking Football squad entered two teams in to the FA People’s Cup, a national 5 a-side tournament with the first round local stage being held at Goals, Northampton.
At the same time, the Northamptonshire FA designated the first round of this local competition as the first ever Northants Walking Football County Cup.
Both teams representing Northampton Town performed really well with the Northampton Town Black Squad reaching the semi-finals. The Green Squad - after a disastrous start with a 9-0 defeat against Kettering - turned things around to run out as winners on the day with a penalty shoot out success against Birmingham. They now travel to Peterborough in March for the next round of the competition.
Victory against Moulton in the semi-finals meant the club also won the Northamptonshire FA County Cup, their first trophy.
