KEITH CURLE - 'WE SHOWED A REAL BELIEF IN THE GAME PLAN ON TUESDAY'

The Cobblers boss looks ahead to Saturday's game at Lincoln City

8 February 2019

Cobblers boss Keith Curle says the squad are looking forward to the challenge presented by Saturday’s trip to league leaders Lincoln City.

“It’s a fantastic challenge and there is no better time for us to go and play the top team in the division,” he said.

“All the expectation will be on Lincoln and the nerves at the top can sometimes be as difficult to deal with as the nerves at the bottom.

“The response we’ve had from the changing room is that we accept challenges and Saturday is no different. We take every game on its merits and I think it will be a very competitive game.

“The players stood up to the challenge at Tranmere and there was cohesion and unity about our defending right from the front and that was very important.

“Goals change games and the timing of our goals was excellent on Tuesday night but the pleasing thing was the resolve of the team after Tranmere equalised. There was a belief about our game plan and in the second half we needed to show real character and a siege mentality which we did.

“It was a result the football club and the supporters needed and most importantly the changing room needed. Ultimately this season is about stopping the slide and implementing the changes that will get this football club going in the right direction.”
