COBBLERS TO CREATE AUTISM FRIENDLY AREA AT MACCLESFIELD GAME ON GOOD FRIDAY

Venture forms part of partnership with Track NN

20 February 2019

Northampton Town are teaming up with local company Track NN to offer support and opportunities for autistic people.

The club are proud to have become a Friend of Track and will be supporting their official launch event when some of the players will be visiting Cafe Track on the Market Square in Northampton after training on Friday afternoon.

As part of April's Autism Awareness Month, the club will also be welcoming autistic people and their families to the Macclesfield Town game on Good Friday. Tickets will be allocated for a dedicated area of the stadium with access to a time out facility for those who want to spend some time there. Visual stadium guides will be provided prior to the game and support will be put into place to make the experience suitable for their needs.

More details on this event will be announced in due course, but Northampton Town Chief Executive James Whiting said the club were delighted to be supporting Track as part of their social engagement.

"We are proud to be a friend of Track NN Limited," he said.

"Track NN Limited offers a fantastic route into work experience and employment for many people who have skills and qualities that would be of huge benefit to potential employers.

"We encourage any Cobblers fans who might be in the town centre and in need of refreshment to pop in to Cafe Track on the Market Square, experience the excellent service on offer and show their support."

In addition, Track are also teaming up with the Northampton Town Community Trust and are currently piloting a scheme to support autistic people to access employment, which includes gaining practical skills in the Café whilst also developing CV’s and helping them practice interview techniques. Feedback from the course has been excellent so far, and the club will hopefully be announcing details of extending this scheme in the near future.
