Cobblers boss Keith Curle praised the work ethic and cohesion throughout his Cobblers squad as he looked back on Tuesday night’s Leasing.com Trophy defeat at the competition holders, Portsmouth.
“There were a lot of positives and I thought the attitude of the players was excellent,” he said.
“To come here and take the lead was very pleasing but probably the major positive for us tonight was getting some very competitive minutes into some of the players who needed that game time.
“I think it shows the cohesion that we have in the squad that we were able to get the players who came in very quickly on to the same page and some of the fundamentals in our play were very good.
“We had a slightly different game plan tonight, we could have been a bit better in possession at times but I felt we had a good share of the game and overall I was very pleased with the application of the players.
“We know we’ve got a very competitive squad but what we need to do is keep up that level of fitness. Any one of these players could be playing on Saturday and if they are they know the level that is required.”
