Cobblers boss Keith Curle is happy with the progress his squad are making ahead of Saturday’s trip to Exeter City, but is demanding more.
“There are still fundamentals within our game that we can improve on and we need to improve on but we have got an environment now where we don’t do 'unlucky',” he said.
“There is nothing wrong with saying you need to do better than that because if you keep hearing that you are unlucky you will keep doing the same things. If someone is not doing what you want or they are not good enough then you change them.
“It is a busy week but that's how I want it. Some managers like the build-up but I’m a little bit different, I like games and I like that competitive edge on a Saturday afternoon.
“I don’t really go into stats too much because ultimately it’s about what we do, we are in a results industry and I understand that but the early part of the season is about performances as well and putting a platform in place.
“Exeter have got a threat in wide areas, they’ve got a good structure but within that there is still room for the players to express themselves and they get players in the right areas.
“They are not too dissimilar too ourselves and I think both teams have got an understanding in place of what you need to be successful.
“We’ve got a good belief and understanding of how we want to play and we won’t change our style. We know what we need to do to win games.”
