Cobblers boss Keith Curle says that, despite the quick turnaround, his team will be well prepared for Tuesday night’s Leasing.com Trophy tie at Portsmouth.
Northampton Town are back in action just over 48 hours after beating Notts County on Sunday, and after being the favourites in that game, Curle said the boot will be on the other foot on Tuesday.
“We’ve got a busy week and the focus now goes straight onto Portsmouth,” he said.
"It's a good opportunity for the players to put in a performance, it's a great stadium and I think it will be a really competitive game.
"Portsmouth had a tight game against Altrincham in the Emirates FA Cup at the weekend and Tuesday will possibly be an opportunity for some of their fringe players to put in a performance as well.
"We go into the game as underdogs but it's another good challenge for our players.
“We’ve got a very competitive squad and players who are desperate to get themselves into the starting line-up.
“Tuesday night will be an opportunity for some of the players to give me a real headache in terms of selection and as a manager that’s what you want.”
