Post match reaction

29 December 2019

Cobblers boss Keith Curle praised the response of his players as he reflected on Sunday’s 1-1 draw with Cheltenham Town.

“I was happy with the response, it was a spirited performance and on another day, with the chances we had, we win the game,” he said.

“The belief was there today, we showed good character to come from a goal down early on and for the most part I think we restricted Cheltenham.

“We had a 20/25 minute spell in the second half when we were on the front foot but where things just weren’t quite dropping for us in the box.

"In the first half we didn’t land on the second ball enough but in the second half we had a bit more dominance.

“As the game went on we were getting a better understanding and we had more energy about us but we just couldn’t quite create that clear opening."

Curle concluded with a fitness update on Harry Smith and Shaun McWilliams.

“They have both been for scans,” he said.

“We are waiting on the detailed reports but hopefully we should know more in the next 24 to 48 hours.”
