Keith Curle saw plenty of positives as he reflected on Tuesday night’s Carabao Cup first round tie at Swansea City. Matt Warburton had put the Cobblers on course for an upset before three goals in the last ten minutes turned things around for the Championship side.
“For 75 to 80 minutes we were excellent,” he said.
“We changed our shape and personnel tonight but the players took everything on board and their application to detail was evident.
“We gave the ball away a bit cheaply a few times in the first half but I felt we looked a threat.
“Matt Warburton took his goal well, his hunger and desire to do well is infectious and we know given the chance he will score goals.
“There is no doubt the priority for us is league position and we want to mount a top half challenge this season but tonight has been a great experience for the lads and for 80 minutes they could see everything we have worked on coming to fruition.”
