Cobblers boss Keith Curle was delighted following Saturday’s home win over one of the pre-season promotion favourites, an Andy Williams first half brace adding to Ryan Watson’s early penalty to secure a 3-1 victory against Plymouth Argyle.
“It was a very good performance and there were lots of boxes ticked,” he said.
“We were organised and the players showed that they are willing to adapt to the way we wanted to play. All ten players had a job to do out of possession and they all stuck to it.
“We want to be an attacking threat but you have to respect the opposition. We showed that from a defensive platform we can mount attacks and look dangerous but by no means were we a counter attacking side today.
“It’s difficult to pick out individuals because that was a team performance and the crowd played a massive part as well.”
