KEITH CURLE LOOKS BACK ON THE VISIT OF ARSENAL U21

The Cobblers boss looks back on Tuesday's visit from Arsenal

Boss Keith Curle reflecting on Tuesday night’s Leasing.com Trophy game against Arsenal. 1-1 at full-time following Sam Hoskins equaliser, the Cobblers claimed an extra point with a 4-3 win on penalties.

“The game was approached by both teams in the right manner and I felt it was played at a good tempo,” he said.

“We were organised, showed good discipline and good character after going a goal down. The goal we conceded was disappointing and that’s what happens when one person in the chain doesn’t do their job, you get punished.

“Arsenal played the ball around well but we played with a shape that we needed to. We only had one coaching day for this game but the players understood their roles and they got their rewards.

“Sam Hoskins gets into some great positions, we’ve been working hard with him and tonight with his finish you could see he was relaxed and his technique was right. It was a great knock down from Vadaine Oliver and you could just see Sam was set right.

“I think the crowd tonight enjoyed seeing the players giving a committed performance and we need to take that into Saturday against Plymouth.”
