DEFENDER HALL-JOHNSON IS A DOUBT FOR SATURDAY ALTHOUGH McCORMACK IS PROGRESSING WELL

A fitness update ahead of the Macclesfield Town game

16 August 2019

Defender Reece Hall-Johnson is a fitness doubt for Saturday’s visit of Macclesfield Town.

“Reece has picked up a knock,” said boss Keith Curle.

“He may not be in contention for this weekend but we are just waiting on a second opinion to the extent of the injury.

“Alan McCormack is recovering quickly, he is a fast healer and he’s back jogging now. We will have to hold him back a bit and he is going to need a longer period of time to put his hamstring under stress in training.

“I know what Alan is like and I’m sure he will want to declare himself fit as soon as he’s back training but that’s where we need the medical staff to step in, they have got to be rigorous, to put his hamstring under strain and make as sure as they can be that he is ready.

“It might be he needs an extra week on top of what he might think but we won’t rush either Alan or Steve Arnold back before we are sure they are ready.”
