CURLE PRAISES SQUAD FOCUS

Read the thoughts of the Cobblers boss

9 April 2019

Cobblers boss Keith Curle has praised the focus of his players following the weekend draw at Notts County.

“There was a good reaction from the players on Saturday, as a group we had to re-aline our focus last week and the players fully took that on board,” he said.

“We looked dangerous against Notts County, we looked good from set pieces and we have scored goals from set pieces but I think we can score more.

“In open play we still need to be better on the ball and be more reliable and consistant. We need to be more expressive in the final third.

“Confidence had taken a knock after the last few results and it was good to see us get some of that back.

“I think there is a sense of a bit of a missed opportunity this season but the primary target when I came in was to keep the club in the division and we have achieved that comfortably. Page one is nearly complete but very quickly we need to move onto page two, establishing an ethos and a style of play for the football club.

“There has got to be a plan in place and recruitment is going to be vitally important in the summer. We need to have a changing room that is buoyant, attentive and enthusiastic, with quality. There is a large market to go shopping from but they have got to be the right player with the right attributes. They need to have a hunger and a desire to improve to help this football club build. It’s going to be a busy summer.”
