NORTHAMPTON TOWN RECEIVE EFL FAMILY EXCELLENCE AWARD AND ARE RATED 16TH OUT OF 72 EFL CLUBS FOR FAMILY MATCHDAY EXPERIENCE

Club receibe high praise from EFL for matchday experience

For the sixth year in succession, Northampton Town have been awarded the EFL Family Excellence Award.

The EFL Family Excellence Award sees each EFL club receives two ‘mystery’ visits from families each season, who describe and score their experiences across six areas including first impressions; stadium vicinity; refreshments and everything that happens inside the stadium, as well as indicating overall ratings on friendliness and intention to recommend.

The Cobblers were visited for the Grimsby Town game (in November) and the Exeter City game (in early March) this season, and the reports rated the club a combined 8.7 out of 10 across all areas during the two visits.

Northampton Town were rated third in League 2, and 16th in a list of the entire 72 EFL clubs, sandwiched in between a number of Championship clubs in the EFL table.

The official mystery visitor report said;
"Northampton Town's 6th consecutive achievement of Family Excellence status is a testament to the club's sustained commitment to ensuring families get the best possible matchday experience.

"Among the high points are the free fruit, the free books (and so many other activities for the kids too), the quality of web site information (and the video), the half time entertainment and the friendly staff encountered throughout.

"In contrast with the majority of other clubs in their division, Northampton Town also use social media very well to promote, inform and engage with families, leaving visitors in no doubt as to the strength of focus on families at the club."

"This is a fantastic achievement and very much places us in the top tier of matchday experiences in the whole EFL," said Chairman Kelvin Thomas.

"A huge thank you is due to the staff, the volunteers, the stewards, the matchday staff and all of those who help us deliver such a first class matchday experience for families visiting us.

"We have been benchmarked, not just against clubs at our level, but against clubs from the Championship and we have shown up very, very well.

"When you consider our extensive community work as well, I think we can be very proud of the work we do for families both on matchdays and at other times and we are delighted this has been benchmarked and verified against other clubs.

"We are delighted that the EFL have recognised our continued progress."

The club would like to thank family area partner Mick George and next season's new family area partner Grange Mortgage Services for their ongoing support.
