The Northampton Town Academy Under 11 and 12 squads have arrived in Holland for a football packed weekend.
After a 3.30am departure from the PTS Academy Stadium on Thursday, the coach made its way to Dover and a smooth ferry ride later they were greeted with sunshine as they drove through France and Belgium before finally arriving in Holland.
The boys quickly unpacked before a team meeting to discuss the plans for the rest of the day. This was followed by a short walk up to the training facilities and a short training session, some light ball work and activation work to loosen up before focusing on some tactical ideas and set pieces ahead of the Friendship Cup on Good Friday.
Dinner, with a short presentation from our Lead Sport Science and Medicine around portion sizes and which foods fuelled recovery, was followed by smaller squad meetings to discuss more tactical concepts and looking at different scenarios the boys may find themselves in during the tournament play. This was a very engaging session which brought some great feedback from the boys.
Then it was bed time to rest up before another full day of football on Friday.
