Young midfielder emerges through club's Football & Education Programme

14 September 2018

Northampton Town have signed midfielder Scott Pollock on a 2 year scholarship after the youngster emerged through the club's Football & Education Programme.

Midfielder Pollock has now become a full time scholar after working his way from the club's Academy shadow squad before joining the club's Football & Education Programme and he will continue his studies within the programme alongside his football development.

He started this season on trial for the under 18 side, scoring two goals in two games.

Pollock previously played for Hashtag United.

Northampton Town's Football & Education Programme Lead Coach, Shane Goddard, said, "Scott's journey to where he is now has been rapid. He was part of the Shadow Squad as an under 16 and came in on trial with the Academy the season before last.

"Since we’ve had him here full-time he has developed quickly. This is brilliant to see from our point of view, it shows the player pathway and the Football & Education Programme's role in that really working and on a personal level, he’s a fantastic lad to work with.

"He’s got an excellent work ethic and he wants to improve every day so that’s great. He’s got a fantastic opportunity with the youth team now and we wish him every success."

Pollock himself added, "This is a dream come true for me. I have had a season ticket for a few years and it is a dream for me to sign for Northampton Town. Hopefully I can continue to develop both my football and my education here at the club. I think it is important to continue my education alongside the football, that way if football doesn't work out I do have the education to fall back on and the Football & Education Programme has been fantastic for me."
