The views of the Cobblers boss

22 September 2018

Although disappointed that they didn't win the game, Cobblers boss Dean Austin felt his side looked more solid as he reflected on Saturday’s goalless draw against Notts County.

“I didn’t think our football today was as fluid but on the positive side we kept a clean sheet,” he said.

“We were a little bit nervy at times but we did get ourselves into some good positions.

“I was pleased with the application of the boys and the way we went about the game but we just needed a bit more guile.

“On the whole I was pleased with our defending today and I will take the clean sheet but as I’ve said many times before this season we need to take our chances.

“I believe with the players we have we can score plenty of goals but it’s just not happening for us at the moment.

“I can’t fault the players work in training but when we are not quite at our best we need to find a way to win and when we do that our confidence will grow.”
