Northampton Town Ladies, sponsored by Grange Mortgage and Protection Services, kicked off their 2018/19 league campaign with a visit to Corby Town Ladies.
The Cobblers started the game confidently but Corby were proving a tough side to break down with windy conditions influencing the game.
Northampton Town went 1-0 ahead just before the break with a 30 yard free kick from Alex Bartlett, her strike found its way over the wall and through the Corby goalkeeper's legs.
The Cobblers stepped up a gear in the second half and they began to dominate the game again.
On 77 minutes substitute Cesca Partridge took on three players before pulling the ball back for Emma Dunmore at the edge of the box and she made no mistake to double the Cobblers lead and secure the three points.
Northampton Town Ladies manager Gary Moss said: "This was always going to be a difficult game against a side who got players behind the ball but we did create a few chances and the commitment and effort of my players was fantastic and they were rewarded with the win. This was a decent start to the league campaign and although we still can improve on our overall performance it was good to come away with 3 points and a clean sheet. We look forward to the week ahead and the next game at the PTS Academy Stadium on Sunday."
