DAVID BUCHANAN IN LINE FOR 150TH COBBLERS APPEARANCE

The latest team news ahead of Saturday's game

7 September 2018

If selected, defender David Buchanan will make his 150th appearance for Northampton Town when Cheltenham Town come to the PTS Academy Stadium on Saturday (kick off 3.00pm.)

To reach such a milestone in a fraction over three years is a fantastic achievement, and manager Dean Austin was quick to pay tribute.

"Reaching such a milestone doesn't happen very often in the modern game, particularly in such a short space of time," he said.

"David is a very good player for us but more important than that, he is a fantastic person and a key figure in the dressing room. He leads by example, his work ethic is first class, he is someone the younger players can look up to and we are lucky to have him.

"To play 150 games in a little over three years is a fantastic tribute to his fitness, commitment, loyalty and consistency and we would love to make the milestone for him with a good result."

In terms of team news for Saturday's game, striker Junior Morias (hamstring) is the only player unavailable.

“Apart from Junior everyone else has trained this week and should be okay for Saturday,” confirmed Austin.

“Junior has an appointment with a specialist on Friday and we will take things from there.

“We will wait until we get the reports back but he says he doesn’t feel too bad and is improving quickly so fingers crossed it’s not too long-term.

“Shaun McWilliams felt fine after playing on Tuesday and he will definitely be involved with the group but whether or not he will play is a decision we will make.”
