Cobblers boss Keith Curle praised his players as he reflected on Tuesday night’s 2-1 away win at Oxford United in the Checkatrade Trophy, second half goals from Kevin van Veen and Aaron Pierre turning around a half-time defecit.
“We are putting principles in place and it was pleasing to give some more players some game time,” he said.
“We’ve laid some good foundations in the last week, it’s nice to get the win tonight and hopefully that gives us the platform to go on and win more games.
“We clicked in the second half tonight, we were getting people in the right areas and we were putting good balls into those areas.
“We scored two good goals, there was probably no one else on the pitch tonight who could have scored the goal Kevin did and it was a nice touch from Aaron for the second.
“I’m still building relationships but I know there is more to come from Kevin as there is all of the players.”
