KIERAN SCARFF APPOINTED NEW HEAD OF ACADEMY

Club delighted to confirm new appointment

27 October 2018

Northampton Town have appointed Kieran Scarff as the club's new Head of Academy.

Scarff is set to join the club from Doncaster Rovers, where he holds the same position, once he has worked his notice period.

Scarff enjoyed a very successful time at Doncaster, where he helped the Rovers Academy recently earn a 'best practice' rating within the EPPP programme. He arrived at the Keepmoat Stadium in August 2016 and oversaw a period of huge progress.

His role at the PTS Academy Stadium will be to build on the fantastic foundations already in place, as Chief Executive James Whiting explained.

"Kieran is a highly rated Head of Academy who did a fantastic job at Doncaster Rovers," he said.

"He is highly experienced and will join an Academy that is already in excellent shape. We believe he is the ideal candidate to build on the fantastic work of Trevor Gould and the staff who Kieran is really excited to be working with.

"Our Academy has made terrific strides in the last few years. We have seen a number of players come through into the first team squad, and while it is not all about results, the fact that both the under 18s and under 16s are top of their leagues says something about the quality of player we are producing.

"We are very excited about the Academy here and the players we have coming through and we believe, with his vision, drive, ambition and experience, Kieran is the ideal candidate to build on what is in place and take that forward."

Kieran himself added, "I am thrilled to be joining a thriving Northampton Town Academy at a very exciting time. The club has a growing reputation for developing exciting young players and I am looking forward to working with a fantastic set of players, staff and coaches to build on the excellent foundations that are already in place. I am really excited about my new role as I think there is huge potential at the club and am really looking forward to getting started."
