In order to stay in the Checkatrade Trophy, the Cobblers need to either win at the Kassam Stadium on Tuesday night, or at least claim a 'winning draw' by taking the extra point available in the penalty shoot out after a drawn game.
Wycombe top the group with six points from two games, while Oxford have three points from a single game with the Cobblers having been beaten in their single game played so far.
With that in mind, Cobblers boss Keith Curle is expecting a good game as both sides look to build on encouraging results at the weekend
“I’m sure it’s a game both teams will want to win,” he said.
“It’s a competitive competition and both teams are looking to build a bit of momentum.
“We are still laying the foundations but again on Saturday it was good to see the reaction of the players and even after Swindon scored there was a willingness and desire to get back on the front foot.
“If we keep getting on the front foot we will score goals with the ability and quality we have.
“We want to and need to win games and that’s what we are working towards.”
