CLUB STAGE ANNUAL REMEMBRANCE FIXTURE

Players and supporters pay respects at Crewe Alexandra game

5 November 2018

Northampton Town's staged their annual remembrance fixture at the Crewe Alexandra game on Saturday.

The annual service of remembrance took place at the Walter Tull Memorial an hour before kick off, while the Cobblers players also warmed up in special t-shirts ahead of the match. In partnership with Northampton Town’s community programme, and match sponsors Northampton Town Supporters Trust, schoolchildren took part in a competition to design a t-shirt logo for the Cobblers players to wear during the warm-up. The winning design was submitted by Karolina Kowalctzyk of Spring Lane School, with the runners up Lucy Barr and Tilly Duckett of Millway Primary School. Thanks also to Hayden Lee and Rayyan Issa for their entries!

A period of silence then took place before kick off to mark remembrance, as well as allowing all concerned to pay their respects to the victims of the helicopter accident at Leicester City.

The players also wore the poppy on their playing shirts, and after the period of remembrance is over these shirts will be auctioned to raise money for the Royal British Legion.
