NORTHAMPTON TOWN LADIES EDGED OUT AS UNBEATEN RUN ENDS

Leicester City Women Development 1 Northampton Town Ladies 0 - the match report

26 November 2018

The Cobblers Ladies travelled to take on the Leicester City Women Development squad in the East Midlands Women’s Regional League Cup. The last time the two teams met was in last season's League Cup competition where Cobblers ran out 2-1 victors.

Leicester City Women Development squad are currently in the league above the Cobblers and sit top of the table after an unbeaten run of 7 games.

The Cobblers started the game strongly and dominated early on. The Cobblers created several chances but were unable to make their early domination pay.

The deadlock was broken midway through the first half when a long range shot was saved by Jo Daniel, but the Cobblers keeper couldn’t hold on to ball, and it fell to Leicester midfielder, Natalie Hurst, who took her chance to put the hosts ahead.

Northampton Town continued to press looking for that equaliser but unfortunately, despite their chances and battling performance, the goal wasn't forthcoming.

The game ended 1-0 to Leicester who progress on to the next stage of the League Cup.

The Cobblers Ladies would like to thank all the travelling fans who came to the game for showing their support!
