Cobblers boss hoping for positive news

5 November 2018

The Cobblers will be without midfielder Matt Crooks for the Checkatrade Trophy clash against Fulham under 21s on Tuesday, but boss Keith Curle is keeping his fingers crossed that the injury Crooks picked up on Saturday isn't too bad.

“Matt is responding well,” said boss Keith Curle.

“He probably won’t be available for Tuesday and we will find out later on in the week how he is looking for the weekend.

“There are a few of the players coming back from injury who are now field based so they are in the latter stages.

“It’s all about getting the timing right for those players, sometimes it’s a case of needs must, sometimes it’s an educated gamble and sometimes when players are ready they can’t get back into the team because someone is doing well in their position.

“The players in the team at the moment are performing at a very high level and so long as they maintain those levels they will keep the shirt.”
