Just a few weeks after being crowned County Cup champions, Northampton Town Ladies, sponsored by Grange Mortgage and Protection Services, rounded off a successful season by lifting the League Cup on Sunday.
Northampton Town Ladies went in to Sunday's League Cup final as underdogs, playing against a team from a division above.
The early chances fell to the Cobblers, with efforts from both Leah Stacey and Francesca Speck going close. Eastwood then came into game, but their first effort was fired high and wide over the Cobblers goal.
The Cobblers had the lead in the 18th minute when Leah Stacey whipped in a corner, which was dropped by the Eastwood keeper, only for Emma Dunmore to bundle the ball into the back of the net.
The Northampton Town Ladies found themselves on top, creating chance after chance, but were not able to extend their lead until the 36th minute when a long range effort from player of the season Kellie Billenness was blocked, but the ball bounced into the path of Dunmore who easily slotted past the oncoming keeper to make the score 2-0.
11 minutes in to the second half the Cobblers found the net again, this time Dunmore turned provider, playing the ball to Stacey, who turned and beat the defender before firing home.
The Cobblers nearly added another soon after as Stacey played the ball through to Georgie Powell, but her first time volley was saved by the keeper.
The ever present Georgia Tear was next on the scoresheet with a curled effort that beat the keeper, followed by Naomi Dauncey as she slotted another goal into the back of the net to put the Cobblers 5-0 with still ten minutes to play.
Francesca Speck then managed to get herself on the scoresheet with arguably goal of the game, a strike from 20 yards into the top corner, before Dunmore secured her hat-trick and Stacey both found the net again to complete an 8-0 victory as Northampton Town Ladies lifted the League Cup Trophy.
