Cobblers boss Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink praised both the Sixfields supporters and the character of Joe Bunney as he reflected on Tuesday night’s 1-1 draw with Shrewsbury.

“I think we deserved a little bit more,” he said.

“We wanted the three points and we were close, it was a refreshing performance and the atmosphere was very good as well so I must thank the supporters for the backing they gave the team.

"We were poor on Saturday and we all had to be honest about that, we spoke about it and tonight was a really good performance. If we can get performances like that in our last 8 matches I’ll be happy.

“We needed to change the team, I wanted us to be more solid and I also wanted to play two strikers to give us a focal point.

“Joe Bunney showed real courage with his performance and for me he was the man of the match. He battled really hard and to come back from Saturday how he did shows real courage.

“I didn’t see the incident with the sending off but I will have to have a look at the footage and take it from there.”
