O'TOOLE AND CROOKS TO MISS FLEETWOOD TRIP

Midfield duo unavailable because of suspension

23 March 2018

The Cobblers will be without the suspended John-Joe O’Toole and Matt Crooks for Saturday’s trip to Fleetwood.

O’Toole will miss the next three matches after being sent off against Shrewsbury in midweek while Crooks is set to serve the final game of his three-match ban.

Shaun McWilliams is one option to replace O’Toole while Aaron Pierre (thigh) is meanwhile making good progress.

“Shaun will definitely be considered,” said boss Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink.

“He did really well when he came on against Shrewsbury and he showed that if he is picked he will be ready. Shaun hasn’t played as much as he would have liked but he’s worked hard and he’s kept positive.

“I haven’t had an in depth conversation with John-Joe yet, we know we haven’t got him for the next three games and at the minute our total focus is on Saturday.

“I will speak to him and we will deal with that internally but it’s an opportunity for someone else to come in.

“Aaron Pierre is warming up with the group again now but he’s still not that close.

“Kevin van Veen is still playing with a little bit of pain but he has to come through it. We are pushing him a little bit but he has got qualities. He needs matches but we also have to be a little bit patient with him.”
