DEAN AUSTIN CONTENT WITH SQUAD, BUT PREPARED FOR MOVEMENT

The Cobblers boss relaxed with pre-season 10 days away

15 June 2018

Dean Austin has said he is prepared for all eventualities as he expects the transfer market to gather pace in the coming weeks.

After a quiet summer so far, the Cobblers boss says he is relaxed and content with what he has.

“If the first game of the season was tomorrow and I had this squad then I’d be very happy," he said.

“I’m not desperate to get any of the players here out the door, I’ve got a very good group but I understand that situations occur where players want to move on. That’s football and when that happens you have to be ready to bring in replacements. If anyone comes in with an offer that is in the best interests of the club then we will be ready to adjust and move forward.

“I don’t see much happening in the next four or five days but things can change and a lot can still happen before the window closes in August.

“As I’ve said all along we don’t need wholesale changes and we have a group that if we do our job properly we will be competitive.

“Our transfer activity this year will be minimal compared to other clubs, there was a lot of changes last year and I feel we need some continuity. It’s more about strategic recruitment. That said, any changes we do make, either in or out, will all be with the aim of making us stronger as a squad."
