DEAN AUSTIN PLEASED WITH LATEST PRE-SEASON PERFORMANCE

Cobblers boss looks back on a successful week in Spain

20 July 2018

As he looked back on Thursday's 3-1 pre-season victory over Hull City under 23s in Spain, manager Dean Austin declared himself happy with both the performance of his team and their work during the week long training camp at Lomas de Campoamor.

"We've had a tough 5 days out here but the boys have acquitted themseves really well," he said.

"On Thursday night I felt we had some good passages of play and as a team we will only improve.

"We tinkered with a few things and did a few things out of possession without the ball that we wouldn't normally do to see how that went and we will reflect on that."

Dean Bowditch came on for his first action of pre-season, setting up the second goal for Aaron Pierre, and Austin was delighted with his performance.

"Dean Bowditch looked sharp," he said. "He has worked very hard, he is looking fit and he is my type of footballer. He is a very clever player, he has been in full training with the rest of the group in Spain and has looked very good and it is great to ave him available. He is another option for us."
