Cobblers boss Dean Austin said he saw some positives and also some areas for improvement as he reflected on Tuesday night’s pre-season fixture at Brackley Town.
“It was a good test for us and as a work out it was exactly what I expected it to be,” he said.
“Brackley are a good side and we are starting to push ourselves on a little bit more now and get more minutes into the players.
“I wasn’t completely satisfied with our performance in the first half but it’s important to get into the habit of winning.
“I want to build on the games at the end of last season in terms of our style and the way that we play and in the first half we were just a bit pedestrian and we had some words at half time.
“That said, the boys are all working extremely hard, they have got a lot of miles into their legs in the last two weeks and we are only going to get better.”
