AARON PIERRE HAS UNDERGONE SURGERY ON GROIN INJURY

Cobblers defender set to miss most of the rest of the season

9 January 2018

Northampton Town defender Aaron Pierre is set to miss an extended period after undergoing surgery on his groin injury.

Pierre picked up the injury against Blackburn Rovers on December 23rd.

“Aaron isn’t going to be back until the middle of April so it’s like losing him for the season,” said boss Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink.

“It’s the same injury as Aaron Phillips. He had an operation on Monday and the muscle had come off the bone.

“It’s a huge blow because he was playing ever so well. He was grasping what we wanted and we are going to miss his physicality.

“We have a squad and somebody else will have to fill in. You have to be flexible in this business and we have to adjust.

“Regan Poole is playing there at the moment and Leon Barnett is coming back from injury.

“We need more centre halves in the building and as much as we want to score more goals we also need more clean sheets. “
