NORTHAMPTON TOWN SIGN HILDEBERTO PEREIRA

Cobblers bring in Legia Warsaw winger on loan

3 January 2018

Northampton Town have signed winger Hildeberto Pereira on loan from Legia Warsaw until the end of the season.

The 21 year old Portugese born player started his career at Benfica and joined Nottingham Forest on loan in the 2016/17 season. He made 25 appearances at the City Ground, scoring twice and becoming a popular figure with the Forest supporters.

After being linked with potential moves to Sheffield United and Wolverhampton Wanderers last summer, he joined Legia Warsaw.

"I have come up against Hildeberto a number of times and have been very impressed. I think he will be a big asset to us," said manager Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink.

"He is full of pace and energy, he can take players on and he will offer us natural width, creativity and a spark.

"He is lively, unpredictable and he can have the fans on the edge of their seats and I am looking forward to working with him.

"He has the potential to be a real crowd favourite and I am very excited to be able to welcome him to Sixfields."

Meanwhile, the club have also confirmed that the short term contracts of Lewis McGugan and Ryan McGivern have expired and won't be extended. Both players arrived earlier this season as free agents after the closing of the summer transfer window.

"We would like to thank both Lewis and Ryan for their efforts," said Hasselbaink.

"We wish them both well with their careers moving forward, but we have decided not to extend their contracts at Sixfields."
