KEVIN VAN VEEN SET TO MISS OXFORD CLASH

Striker hoping to be back in action soon

20 February 2018

Striker Kevin van Veen is unlikely to feature in this weekend's match against Oxford United after suffering a knee injury against AFC Wimbledon a week and a half ago.

Van Veen, signed from Scunthorpe United in January, has had a scan on his medial cruciate knee ligament but boss Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink is hopeful the striker will be back in action soon.

“Kevin has had a scan and while there is a small injury, I don’t think it’s anything too big,” he said.

“I don’t think he will make the weekend but we don’t know yet when he will be back.

“Hopefully he will heal quickly, he can play through the pain and he is very eager to do that but at the minute the pain is just a bit too much.

"We hope he won't be out too long, and he is keen to get back out there as soon as he can."
