Shay Facey (hamstring) is back in training and could return to the Cobblers squad this weekend for the visit of Oxford united.
Hildeberto Pereira is also available for selection again after serving a one-match ban.
Kevin van Veen (knee) is unlikely to feature against Oxford while Aaron Pierre and Aaron Phillips (both thigh) remain sidelined.
"Shay is back training with the group and he should be okay for Saturday," said boss Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink.
"Matt Crooks is getting stronger, he missed the Tuesday game last week but he copes better when we go Saturday to Saturday but we are trying to build him up all the time.
"The quicker we can get his recovery the better he will be. He is willing to work and that's half the battle. Our plan is get his hamstrings strong enough to be able to cope with the two matches in four days over the Easter weekend in a month or so."
